Musicians meet machines to create hypnotic hooks and rhythmic grooves, meshed with poetical lyrics and vocal melodies.
F\GUREHEAD is a collective of songwriters and musicians who weave instrumentation and vocals around big hypnotic electronic beats, effects, and live recorded loops. They perform live, semi-improvised, freestyle sets. Their sound is a blend of nu trip hop, free form jazz, acoustic percussive, and electronica.
Milan born jazz guitarist Raffaele Bizzoca (Lele for short) studied jazz guitar professionally with Luciano Zadro. He now plays in London and Brighton. Currently he is focusing on his Trio Project based on his original compositions.
The album is called “The Journey “ and you can check Lele’s music out at: http://londonjazzguitarist.co.uk
The Dirty Fairies began their journey as an all-girl 3-piece band consisting of twin sisters Lisa (bass/vocals) and Natalie Martin (guitar/vocals), and Kelly Kennedy Scates (drums). They play their own tunes, a combination of genres influenced by Hendrix, Sly & the Family Stone, and The Meters. More recent additions to the band have been Lou Woodger on flute, and Nik Vaughn on percussion and keys, and some special guest brass musicians from around their home county of Essex.
Currently writing new tracks, and having released their first ever video ‘Serpentine’, this now 5-piece (and growing) band are taking a break from recording to join us again for the festival rounds.
Jacksons Warehouse acoustic project is a laid back folky showcase of Basildons longest running band, bringing acoustic reworks of old songs as well as brand new material.
One man, one guitar, one stompbox, one hell of a party!
Doozer McDooze wears his heart on his sleeve, places his tongue in his cheek and opens his emotions to the listener. Thrumming his guitar with a rhythmic energy that demonstrates little concern for the guitar’s safety and total commitment to the music, he reveals the fragility at the heart of his world view.

She’s been writing all her life and has been performing live on stage since 2005. No stranger to success she has recently performed and produced her own show called ‘Scott on the Rocks’ where she showcased her work collaborating with Soundscapers, DJ’s, filmmakers and musicians in her hometown. Cherry is based in Southend on sea, Essex.
See her on Saturday and Sunday from 12.00 to 12.20pm at the aHulaBula Stage.
The Penny Antics are a two piece Grunge/Punk band from Essex. We’ve been gigging around for three years now and are developing an ever-expanding fanbase. We’re known for our unpredictable and energetic performances and play each set as though it were our last. We have a 10-song album out, and a 5-song EP.
When Steve the singer out of the hardcore punk band Gout/Lager Louts became ill with throat problems he had to stop singing live. During that time Steve started making his own music from sounds he liked; tractors, angle grinders, drills and anything you can hit like barrels, buckets, scaffold tubes and diesel tanks. Once Steve’s voice improved he set about starting up a live band and was joined by guitarist Jason Sanders, and didgeridoo player Dave Croughan. The end result is a mix of hoe down punk crossed with industrial folk blues that shouldn’t work but somehow does.
Since then Jesus Hooligan have added more and more people to the band, including four extra Burrell Bashers (Adam Smith, Carol Walker, Lester Rouge and Paul Geddes), a drummer (Arup) and Rick Pistol on Darbuka. As a result of this, and their fun, energetic live performances, Jesus Hooligan continue to go from strength to strength.
