I’m Linda and I have been running Breaking Out Stage at Cosmic Puffin for eight years. I took a year out in 2017 when the stage was run by our lovely tunes man Dubdogg who did a brilliant job, but now I’m back in the saddle and rearing to go for Cosmic Puffin 11. The Breaking Out Stage has earned a great reputation with young up-and-coming musicians over the years, where we’ve heard some brilliant musicians starting out.
The stage runs on a Saturday and Sunday from 1pm until 8.30pm, then we have a quick change around to make a lovely comfortable seating area for you to sit and enjoy an evening with Fiasco Comedy club, run by the amazing Phil Osborn, where we hope you will have a great evening full of fun and laughter.
I am Thankful to have a wonderful crew behind me to help with the smooth running of Breaking Out Stage, you will find a very warm welcome from them all, so come and have a listen to our wonderful musicians and grab yourself a cuppa and a bit of cake from our stage café Bitter and Twisted. All profits made from the café go to the Cosmic Puffin kitty as well as feeding and watering Cosmic Puffin crew as they go about the festival.
Rowan Anne is an 18yr old singer/songwriter, who has been performing for 6 years. She’s played many local festivals in and around Colchester, recently including The Big Sunday and Colchester Pride, and has played on local radio.
Her originals have a soft, bright tone, and are accompanied by covers of bands such as Hozier, Fall Out Boy and Hayley Kiyoko.
We are a 4-piece Alt/Shock rock band from Essex and formed at the beginning of 2017. In December of that year we had already released our first EP The Grey Society which lays the foundations of the concept story which Audrey Ripper is based on. We are currently touring the country to promote the release of The Grey Society.
We aim to ignite and intrigue with slicing guitar riffs, brutal drum beats, bombastic bass melodies and provocative cryptic lyrics with a rebellious vibe. Performing at a variety of venues and making many public appearances all the while recording new songs, we have earned the admiration and affection of critics and fans alike.
The songs are short and you might get a free biscuit.
Imagine Richard Stilgoe got stuck in the matter transporter from ‘The Fly’ with John Shuttleworth, Half Man Half Biscuit and Terry Nutkins (RIP). Now imagine the music the resulting creature might produce… Yes that’s right, I agree, but still aren’t you curious?
